What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small text file saved in your browser when you visit a site. This site also uses localStorage — a similar store that stays in your browser and is never sent to a server.
Cookies we use
Only strictly necessary and functional entries are stored. None of them identify you, track you across sites, or get shared with third parties.
| Name | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| i18n_redirected | Cookie | Remembers the language you chose so you are not redirected again on the home page. | 1 year |
| se_consent | localStorage | Stores your cookie preference and when you gave it. Created only if measurement or advertising is enabled. | Until you delete it |
Third-party cookies
There are currently no third-party cookies on the site: analytics and advertising are off, and no external script is loaded when a page opens.
If measurement or advertising is enabled later, those cookies are written only after you consent, and this table is extended. See the privacy policy for details.
Embedded videos
Some articles contain a YouTube video. The video is not loaded until you press play: until then no request reaches YouTube and no cookie is written. When you press play the video opens through youtube-nocookie.com, which limits cookie use, and from that point YouTube's own terms apply.
Managing cookies
You can delete or block cookies and site data at any time from your browser settings. If you delete the language cookie, the site will redirect once more based on your browser language when you open the home page.
